BEARCAT SOCCER ROLLS PAST HARRIS-STOWE 8-0

 (LEBANON, Ill., Sept. 27)—The McKendree College women’s soccer team rolled past Harris-Stowe State University, 8-0, at home on Tuesday. The win extends the Bearcats’ conference winning streak to 12 games and their conference shutout streak to 420 minutes.
       McKendree got the scoring started early, scoring on back-to-back shots. The scoring began with Ray Ray Cole (Raytown, Mo./St. Teresa's) netting a goal on a free-kick from 22 yards out at the 12-minute mark. Jill Delabar (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell North) followed with her fourth goal of the season just two-minutes later.
       The Bearcats extended their lead to 3-0 when Becky Requarth (Springfield, Ill./Rochester) netted an unassisted goal after stealing the ball from a Hornet defender. Katie Hubbard (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) added gave the Bearcats a 4-0 lead when she scored her fifth goal of the season at the 31-minute mark.  
      The Bearcats held a 4-0 lead at halftime, before scoring another four goals in the second-half to walk away with the win. Stephanie Robbins (Cahokia, Ill./Cahokia) and Ashlee Ritchie (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) each added a goal while Ashley Hayes (Godfrey, Ill./Alton-Marquette) netted two goals and two assists in the half. Bearcats Katie Steiger (Glen Carbon, Ill./Edwardsville), Nicole Chappell (Highland, Ill./Triad), Holly Hogan (Pawnee, Ill./Chatham Glenwood), Katie Hubbard (Granite City, Ill./Granite City) and Laura Cox (Rochester, Ill./Rochester) all each added assists in the game.
       McKendree keeper Jill Wolfmeier (Millstadt, Ill./Belleville West) made one save in recording the shutout and the win. McKendree is now 7-2-1 overall and 2-0 in the AMC this season. McKendree will be in action again this Saturday at home against Olivet Nazarene University. Game time is set for 9 a.m.
